A P-40 fighter plane flown by a Canadian pilot was found in the Egyptian desert in remarkably preserved condition. It crash landed in 1942 during the battle with the Afrika Korps. Here is a
link to yahoo where they have great pictures and a cool video. Unfortunately the pilot likely survived the crash but then later died in this remote and inhospitable desert (although the remains have not been found). The fact that the plane lay undisturbed for 70 years is miraculous.

That is awesome. Feel sorry for the poor pilot, getting downed in the middle of nowhere (literally). They think he survived the crash, then probably wandered off to his eventual death.
I hope the natives don't loot the thing and that it can be returned to civilization for touch up and fixing and placed in a museum. I wish the stupid Navy would let loose with some of their draconian regulations and then the divers could start raising some of the many planes sitting at the bottom of Lake Michigan as the result of training flights in WW2.
