I am pretty sure that it has been mentioned on these pages that we think of Motorhead as an icon of metal. Lemmy is the driving force behind this band that has been around what seems forever. Recently, Motorhead appeared on the Jimmy Fallon show. They didn't play one of their new songs, they launched into what everyone was there to hear - one of the most perfect metal songs ever recorded, Ace of Spades. they killed it. not bad for a bunch of old scudders:
In an email exchange the other night, Carl forwarded me an article about how Norway was telling the rest of Europe to stuff in, in reference to the Euro. I mentioned that at least in France I could get a beer for 3 or 4 euro, not the equivalent of $20 like Carl recently spent in Norway. The beer of choice for me in France is made by Kronenberger, and it is called 1664. It is a pilsner that actually has flavor, as opposed to most of the crap mass produced pilsners here in the US.
I was noodling around the internet and found this ad done by Lemmy and Motorhead for 1664. Hey, if it is good enough for Lemmy, it is certainly good enough for me. By the way, I thik this is a very good ad.

In that Jimmy Fallon he has the classic line
"I don't want to live forever"
and then instead of "don't forget the joker" he replaced it with "apparently I am"
Good luck Lemmy hope you live for ever and damn right it was good to hear Ace of Spades.
I try to find French restaurants in town that may have 1664 on tap. In a fair and just world that beer would be everywhere like Coors Light instead it is stuck in a niche.
Impress your friends and order it in French - "seize cent soixante quatre" - my college French couses definitely came in handy for something when I was over there.
When I hear the name Motorhead this is the guy that comes to mind...
