Your wife has extremely good taste, Bruno. Sketchers - that brand runs a bit wider for my huge gunboats.
I am a traditionalist, and think that laces should be involved -- unless you are going for loafers with the little tassles.

That is a diplomatic way of saying that some other country made them leave.
Really, though, to gauge the suitability of these shoes for "work", we need to know what "work" means.
If Dan is a day-camp counselor, one of Martha Stewart's administrative assistants, or the guy who brings you steaming facial towels after a massage, then I think those shoes are an excellent choice.
Beyond those choices, I'll not venture.

When I was wearing a similar configuration I got the advice to use some of those ultra-short bicyle socks (which I happened to own already). YMMV.
That is pretty much what the wife told me, and that they would look better with jeans.
