Question

.
Let's say I'm driving my Toyota Prius at 95 mph on the freeway. Up ahead I suddenly see a parked squad car that has probably caught me on radar.

So I quickly grab my cell phone, call 911, and scream, "Help! My Toyota's out of control! I can’t stop! Help!"

As I pass he pulls out with his lights on.

Think I could get out of the speeding ticket?

I think a lot of the complaints that Toyota is getting are people working the system, as always. I just don't understand if your car was flooring it why you wouldn't simply turn off the key. I had a Ford Explorer that did this exact thing and that is what I did. There ended up being some sort of accelerator linkage problem, but no harm, no foul. I just hit the brake, and turned the damned thing off and drove immediately to a dealer.

To quote some cops I've know..."You might beat the rap, but you won't beat the ride."

Errmmm ... passing up the temptation to propel a tin can down the freeway at 90 mph will also get you out of a ticket.

Dan: I would have had the vehicle towed to the dealer. Being able to stop ain't exactly optional.

I don't think you could get a Prius up to 90 mph
