While this weekend looks like it is shaping up to be a bit cold and stormy last weekend was beautiful in Chicago. In the upper left you can see people out on the beach and palm trees in the sand, to boot. In the upper middle there is a cafe called the "Oak Street Beachstro" which is, as the title suggests, right up on the water on Oak Street. The food is OK but the drinks are great and everyone is having fun soaking up a bit of sun as soon as it pops up (the bathrooms look like porta-johns, but hey, you can't have everything). On the upper right you can see where the palm trees come from, as they lay out on the ground waiting to be planted for the summer.
The lower left has a view of the beach with that crazy "Hi Guy" who rides around everywhere on a bicycle with streamers all over it (here is a link to a better photo and a little Chicago Tribune blurb on him). In the lower middle you can see a great shot of the Hancock building with clear skies (it is hard for me to find an angle where I can get the total building top to bottom). From the lower right we sat outside at one of the boutique hotels near Michigan avenue and looked up at one of the painted bovines from the Chicago art installation years ago with construction overhead.
