As if I need another reason to stock up on ammo.
A friend forwarded an email to me that got my attention. Is this real? it's the first I have heard of it. Check out the link. You be the judge. Here is the email:
It has already started... Ammunition Accountability Legislation. Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns?
Well, it seems that his allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo! The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana ) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacturer and to maintain a database of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers.
NOBODY CAN SELL ANY AMMUNITION AFTER JUNE 30, 2009 UNLESS THE AMMUNITION IS CODED. ANY PRIVATELY HELD UNCODED AMMUNITION MUST BE DESTROYED BY JULY 1, 2011. (INCLUDING HAND LOADED AMMO.)
They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more! If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your guns! This legislation is currently pending in 18 states:
Alabama , Arizona , California , Connecticut , Hawaii , Illinois , Indiana , Kentucky , Maryland , Mississippi , Missouri , New Jersey , New York , Pennsylvania , Rhode Island , South Carolina , Tennessee , and Washington . Are you surprised? Nope!..It's only going to get worse!
I think it is smart to assume that the donks will attempt some sort of legislation to erode the rights of gun owners everywhere. Personally I have been laying in thousands and thousands of rounds for just such an occasion.
This legislation the way you have it worded looks like it is over the top. Destroy privately owned ammunition? Don't think so.
The "Obama bounce" in ammo prices is well documented in a lot of places. I do think that they will go after ammo, but not sure how they can move fast enough to get this sort of legislation through. On top of this, the Republicans have 41 Senators (thank god) and this garbage legislation would get filibustered right away. In addition, there are a lot of Dem Senators that would no way go along with this in its present form.
In the end, there will be some sort of assault on our Right to Keep and Bear Arms and Ammo is a logical place for the left to start. Just not in this exact fashion.

.05 per round? So, like... a brick (500) of crappy Thunderbolts will go up $25 bucks...making it close to $50 bucks out the door for plinking? For fricken plinking?? With Thunderbolts??
