A Lot Of Doe

.
As I drove toward town to replenish supplies a neighbor appeared to be having problems. He was struggling to drag a cargo out of the back of his Chevy Suburban. Being a good neighbor I pulled over and offered some assistance. This was one fine cargo.

Two does in two days shot from the same stand, one at dusk and one the next morning. He told me on the way home he bought a lottery ticket. They were both taken with a bow.

The largest weighed about 125lbs. dressed, that’s one big Midwestern corn fed doe.

This is wildlife management at it’s best. The laws allow outdoorsmen to enjoy their tradition and promotes the harvesting of does. Think about that.

Fewer does fewer fawns. Fewer fawns fewer deer. Fewer deer fewer auto collisions and crop depredation. There is no better or more affordable biological solution and there is no finer table fare than corn-fed whitetail. It's a win win win!

Got a freezer? Go get some.

They should extend hunting season around here to cull the herd. It really is condition critical.

When the Odyssey harvests one, they are in much worse shape than these.
