The game between the Tigers and Blue Jays was cancelled due to cold weather. Lame! These guys make millions of dollars a year and can't put on a sweatshirt? Bah.
The Flubs drop the finale with the Reds, 5-2. They were up 2-1 going into the bottom of the 7th, then gave up two in that inning and an additional two in the eighth. The Cubs bullpen ruins a nice outing by Marquis who went six innings for one earned run. Six Reds pitchers combined for the two run performance. The Cubs now travel to Milwaukee to face the beloved Brewers in a three game set this weekend, and remember that JohnnyJ and myself have a sixer riding on it.
The Sox salvage the rubber game of their set with the Tribe, 4-3 in ten innings. Buehrle went out for the Sox in the second after getting hit by a shot up the middle. He better not be out for long or the Sox will sink like a stone in the tough AL Central. Podnedsik goes 2 for 3 with a run scored, an RBI, and two stolen bases. Ever see his wife? Whoa.
The Red Sox beat the Royals 4-1. Matsuzaka gets his first win of the year, going seven and only giving up one run. Hapless KC makes two errors, costing them two runs - that type of nonsense kills a team. Ramirez goes 2 for 5 with a double for the Sox and DeJesus goes 2 for 4 with a homer and an RBI in a losing effort for the Royals.
The Yankees dropped on to Tampa, 7-6. The Yankees commit three errors, most costly a wild pitch in the eighth by Luis Vizcaino (former Brewer, heh) to bring home the winning run for Tampa. Matsui goes 2 for 5 with 2 RBI in the losing effort.
