Baseball Pool Update 2

Ben Sheets starts the new year off in STYLE going the distance for the complete game victory, a two hitter. Crew wins 7-1 over Graphix's Dodgers. Bill Hall and Jeff Jenkins each get two RBI, and Hall with a homer for Milwaukee.

Craig's Tigers go extra innings and give up a two spot in the top of the tenth to lose to the Blue Jays 5-3. Fernando Rodney is the goat for Detroit as he surrenders those costly two runs in the extra frame. Overbay goes 2 for 4 with a RBI for Toronto and Gary Sheffield comes through for two RBI for the Tigers in the losing effort.

John's Yankees start the season out with a win, 9-5 over Tampa Bay. Giambi goes 2 for 5 with 3 RBI. Pavano only goes 4.1 innings with 4 earned runs before getting yanked. Tampa's starter, Kazmir, didn't do any better with 5 earned runs in five innings.

JohnnyJ's Flubs keep the bats humming from last year with a 5-1 loss to the Reds. Zambrano only goes 5 innings with 5 earned runs. If that keeps up it will be a painful year for the Northsiders. Adam Dunn hits two homers off of Zambrano, and gets 3 RBI.

Snake's Tribe CRUSHES the White Sox, 12-5. Sabathia goes six innings with 3 earned runs, whereas Contreras only made it one inning, good for 7 earned runs. Nice showing on opening day for the Sox, eh Carl? This begins a very long and painful season I predict for Carl, and I said it several weeks ago. Just like the crap table as Carl said, all of his chips will be swept away.

PSL Dave's Red Sox celebrated opening day by getting beaten by the lowly Royals 7-1. Schilling only goes 4 innings giving up 5 earned runs. Grudzielanek gets three RBI for KC while the KC pitcker, Meche, goes 7.1 innings giving up only one earned run for the victory.

So the standings:

1. PS Indy (Mets) 1 win

1. Dan from Madison (Brewers) 1 win

1. Snake (Indians) 1 win

1. John (Yankees) 1 win

2. Graphix (Dodgers) 0 wins

2. PSL Dave (Red Sox) 0 wins

2. Carl from Chicago (White Sox) 0 wins

2. JohnnyJ (Flubs) 0 wins

2. Craig (Tigers) 0 wins

Meh...I should have picked the Mariners...Cubbies starting off in true form...I heard they're being sold?

The Mariners were impressive though...King FELIX (Hernandez) had 12k's and a shut-out! Didn't expect that!

Hells yeah DFM! It looks like it's on like donkey kong. Though you have to keep the faith with every Cleveland team: I know it's early, but there's always a choke at some point.
