His name is (or is not) Steve H. Graham and he was on Fox News yesterday. If you go to the Fox News website you may be able to find his video about his new book in which he engages Nigerian spammers.
I don't find that type of book interesting enough to buy, as its just not my thing. I did find the book you see in the photo above interesting though and I bought it I think two or three years ago. "Eat What You Want and Die Like a Man" was a POD (publish on demand) book that Steve had done. The idea is basically that if you pay a publisher, they will print and market (chuckle) the books for you. Well, print they did. Marketing - well, that is another story as the intro to his book will describe - the infamous editorial review.
But wait - you will NOT be reading that introduction, nor will be savoring the recipes within (unless you can find a stray copy at Amazon or Barnes) because he has stopped production of this soon to be collectors item. You see, Steve is working on a new cookbook. His book about spammers as of today is in the three hundreds or so on the Amazon rankings, powered by not only his Fox News appearance, but by a free plug by the always funny Lucianne.
Earlier this week I think I talked Steve into putting his Greaseburger recipe from EWYWADLAM into his new cookbook - because I am STUPID. I should have let him go on his merry way, and kept that thing for myself or ebayed that soon to be collectors item for at least DOUBLE what I paid for it (after xeroxing all of the pages, of course).
Anyway, I have had a couple of email conversations with Steve over the years that I am sure he doesn't remember and have even received a couple of "Hogolanches" (and the dozens and dozens of hits that come with one) most noticeably from my Pork Shoulder recipe and for something else, I think when I was wasting time ragging on Pajamas Media. I am very happy for him and his success, and hope he is smart enough to realize the power of my blog and its 200 hits per day. He will no doubt understand that an advance copy of the cookbook will be in order and I will be happy to accept that as tribute to the might of my internet powerhouse.
I think he would be smart to actually close his blog as of this point, if his current book becomes successful. The material there will do nothing but give ammo to his critics and blogging, in general, doesn't really do much for you on the publicity front unless you are a Malkin, or a type like that who ALREADY had a following before you started a blog. But I will read Hog on Ice while I can.
Seriously, it is nice to see a good guy be successful. Congrats to Steve on his new book and the Amazon ranking. Like I said, I won't buy it, but maybe you should look into it.
As for me, next up on my plate from his old book is the peach cobbler. My problem up here in Wisco is getting good peaches. The struggles of a foodie, I tell you. If Steve knows what's good for him he will chime in here and let me know if canned peaches are OK to use in the recipe.
