Couldn't believe when I read the news reports yesterday that President Bush apologized to President Hu of China for statements a heckler made to the both of them from outside the White House.
As I understand, Wenyi Wang, shouted out loud to President Hu that "his days were numbered." So what does our knucklehead of a President do (Yes, I voted for him)?, he apologizes to Hu for her behavior, then goes on in his speech to say that China needs to improve their human rights!! Then, Ms. Wang gets arrested and was charged with harassing, intimidating, or threatening a foreign official: a Misdemeanor.
What ????!!!!
That same protest in China would have gotten Ms. Wang 10 years in the Gulag.
And if Hu was insulted by the protest, "Oh Well!" If anything, if reporters asked Bush about the woman's protest, he probably should have stated "I think its great that in America, anyone can protest aginst their government or leaders without repercussions. Hopefully, one day in China, that same woman will be able to make that protest without any repercussion to her or her family."
Ronald Reagan would have made a statement like that. Gee, I guess America really needs those Beanie Babies.

I voted for him too, and this infuriates me. Why do we make so many exceptions for China? We would not be so tolerant of such human rights abuses by a lesser economic power. Great suggestion for a response by Bush. I wish I could remember the Reagan years, but sadly, I was too young.
