Everything is Relative

As most know, I am in training for my first ever century ride. This is riding 100 miles in one day on my bike. My intention in the century is to "make it" - that is, complete the 100 miles in a respectable time, perhaps under 8 hours. That would be an average of 12.5 mph, including rests. Oh, yes, you have to rest, hydrate and eat.

Lance Armstrong has just announced that he will retire from competitive riding after the Tour de France in July. Just exactly what are they going to do in this years Tour de France?
2227 miles over 24 days.
92.79 miles on average per day.
Fast. Last year Lance averaged 26 mph.
Up big hills. Mountains, that is. Racing.
